How to order a Florida Apostille Certificate from the Florida Department of State

An original or certified copy is required. You can order a certified copy of your articles and request an Apostille at the same time. However, you need to pay the fees separately. We recommend mailing the order. Normal processing takes up to 7 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $10. Expedited service is available in person only and should be the same day. Always provide the name of the country needing a Florida Apostille.

By Mail:
Cover letter must include the name of the country, payment for applicable fees, preaddressed prepaid envelope or prepaid airbill, and a daytime phone number for possible questions. You must enclose an original or certified copy of the document, or a request for a certified copy of the document. If requesting a certified copy at the same time, fees need to be paid separately.

In Person:
In person requests will usually be processed the same day, or within 2 days. You must provide a certified copy or original document.

Do you need to order a certified copy at the same time or does the fee include a certified copy?

A certified copy can be ordered at the same time, but fees must be paid separately. This fee does not include a certified copy.

How much does it cost to obtain an Florida State Apostille?

$10 per document for normal processing.

How long does it take to get an Apostille Certificate from Florida Secretary of State?

Expedited Counter Service: same day for individuals if received by 4:30 p.m.; 1-2 business days for service companies, attorneys or law firms.
Normal processing: 7 business days, plus additional time for mailing.

How will the Apostille Certificate come back after I order from the Florida Secretary of State?

It will be returned by the type of return envelope you provide (i.e. a pre-addressed prepaid envelope or airbill). Return service by fax or email is not available.
