How to order an Apostille Certificate from the Kentucky Secretary of State

An original or certified copy is required. You can order a certified copy of your articles and request an Apostille at the same time. We recommend faxing the order, only if you are requesting the certified copy at the same time. Normal processing takes up to 3 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $5.00. Expedited service is not available. Always provide the name of the country needing a Kentucky Apostille or Certificate of Authentication.

By Mail:

You will want to provide the Order Form and payment with your cover letter. You must enclose an original or certified copy of the document, or a request for a certified copy of the document.

By Fax:

You may fax your order only if requesting the certified copy at the same time. You will want to provide the Order Form with a normal fax cover sheet. DO NOT send your credit card information by fax. You may pay by prepaid account or credit card. Make note if you would like to pay by credit card and they will call you when your request is processed and ready for payment. They will take your credit card information by phone.

In Person:

Requested documents can usually be provided the same day. You will want to have your payment handy.

By Phone:

You may call in your order only if requesting the certified copy at the same time. Called in requests are accepted and they can give you a specific timeframe for processing as well as the specific fee. You will want to have the business name and credit card handy when making your call.


Do you need to order a certified copy at the same time or does the fee include a certified copy?

A certified copy can be ordered at the same time. This fee does not include a certified copy.


How much does it cost to obtain a Kentucky Apostille?

$5.00 per document for normal processing.
