How to order an Apostille Certificate from the Nebraska Secretary of State

An original or certified copy is required. You can order a certified copy of your articles and request an apostille at the same time. However, separate payment is required. We recommend mailing the order. Normal processing takes up to 1 day, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $10. Expedited service is not available. Always provide the name of the country needing a Nebraska apostille or certificate of authentication.

By Mail:

Cover letter must include the name of the country, payment, address the documents should be mailed to after processing, and a daytime phone number for possible questions. You must enclose an original or certified copy of the document, or a request for a certified copy of the document. If requesting a certified copy at the same time, separate payment of fees is required.

By Phone:

We recommend calling, only if you are requesting certified copies at the same time. They can give you a specific timeframe for processing as well as the specific amount due.

In Person:

Requested documents can usually be provided within 1 hour. You will want to have your payment handy. You can tour the Capitol while you wait, bug a Senator, or grab a sandwich in the Capitol cafeteria during your 1 hour wait.


Do you need to order a certified copy at the same time or does the fee include a certified copy?

A certified copy can be ordered at the same time. However, separate payment of fees is required. This fee does not include a certified copy.


How much does it cost to obtain an Nebraska Apostille?

$10 per document for normal processing.


Is expedited processing available?

No. However, all documents are processed and mailed out the same day they are received.
