How to order an Apostille Certificate from the Utah Secretary of State

An original or certified copy is required. You cannot order a certified copy of your articles and request an Apostille at the same time. We recommend mailing the order. Normal processing takes up to 5 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $15.00. Expedited service is available for $25.00 or more and should take less than 24 hours, plus additional time for mailing. Always provide the name of the country needing a Utah Apostille or Certificate of Authentication.

By Mail:

Order Form must include the name of the country, payment, self-addressed stamped envelope for the documents to be mailed to you after processing, and a daytime phone number for possible questions. You must enclose an original or certified copy of the document.

In Person:

Counter service is not considered expedited processing, unless paying for expedited service. You must provide a certified copy or original document. You will want to have your payment handy.


Do you need to order a certified copy at the same time or does the fee include a certified copy?

A certified copy cannot be ordered at the same time. This fee does not include a certified copy.


How much does it cost to obtain a Utah Apostille?

$15.00 per document for normal processing.
$40.00 for next day expedited processing (24 hours).
$65.00 for same day expedited processing (2 hours).


Is expedited processing available?

Yes. An expedited service fee of $25.00 is required for 24 hour processing or $50.00 for 2 hour processing, in addition to the regular $15.00 fee.

How long does it take to get an Apostille Certificate from the Utah Secretary of State?

Normal processing: 3-5 business days, plus additional time for mailing.
Expedited Next Day processing: 24 hours, plus additional time for mailing.
Expedited Same Day processing: 2 hours, plus additional time for mailing.


How will the Apostille Certificate come back after I order from the Utah Secretary of State?

It will be returned by the type of pre-addressed prepaid envelope or UPS/Fed Ex airbill provided. Return service by fax or email is not available.
