What are the options and different ways you can change your Utah registered agent?

You have a couple options to changing your registered agent in Utah. The Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code encourages all changes to be made via the internet, however, Utah will still accept the Corporation Registration Information Change Form, or the Limited Liability Company Registration Information Change Form, by mail, fax or in person. If faxing your form, a Fax Cover Letter is required with your credit card information. The fax cover letter can be found and downloaded from the Division Website or in your online account with us.

To change your registered agent online you go to the Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code’s Website and click on Update a Business under Online Services. You will need to request an access ID number that Utah will send to you by email. Find the link to Utah’s online business filings below.

How much does it cost to change your registered agent in Utah?

The fee required to change your registered agent in Utah is $15.
You may expedite the processing of your document for an additional $75. However, if you file the change form online, it is processed the next business day for no extra charge. The link to change your registered agent online with Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code is found below.

Utah Division of Corporations charges $15 per year for the annual report/renewal fees. If you file the Registration Information Change Form in conjunction with the annual renewal, there is no fee for the change form. Just send it in with your annual report/renewal for free.

No. It is not mandatory in Utah to use a commercial registered agent. Any individual or entity that agrees to act as your registered agent may do so; however, a commercial registered agent in Utah will have multiple businesses that it provides registered agent service for and that will usually be their primary focus, such as us here at Northwest.

How long does it take the state to process and complete the change of registered agent in Utah?

Normal Processing:  5 to 7 days from when the Division receives the form.
Fax Processing:  5 to 7 days.
In Person processing:  5 to 7 days.
Online:  48 hours maximum.

An acknowledgement of your information change processing will be sent to your registered agent unless you provide a duplicate form and a pre-addressed, stamped envelope to the Division with you filing.
