How to get a Certificate of Legal Existence from the Connecticut Secretary of State

A certificate of good standing in the State of Connecticut is called a Certificate of Legal Existence. You can order by fax, mail, email, online or in person, but we recommend online. If you order online you will be able to print out the requested document yourself. Normal processing is usually 4-5 business days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $50. Expedited service is available for $100 more and should take less than 24 hours, plus additional time for mailing.

In Person:
If you choose to stop by in person, they will handle your request as if received by fax or mail and you must provide the Order Form.

How much does a Connecticut Certificate of Legal Existence cost?

$50 for normal processing.
$100 for expedited processing.

Is expedited processing available?

Yes. An expedited service fee of $50 is required, in addition to the regular $50 fee. The requested document will be mailed the following business day at 4:00 p.m.
