How to get a Certificate of Existence from the Georgia Secretary of State

A certificate of good standing in the State of Georgia is called a Certificate of Existence. You can order by mail, phone or online, but we recommend online. Online orders are immediate. Normal processing by mail takes up to 48 hours, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $10. Expedited service is available for $50 more and is processed the same day received, plus additional time for mailing.

Online:
Go to their website and follow the instructions provided to sign up, search and print a certificate. You will be able to validate, view and print the certificate yourself immediately in pdf format.

By Mail:
Requests by mail will be expedited only if paying the additional fee. You will want to provide a check for the fee, the business name, specific request and a daytime phone number for any questions.

In Person:
Only check or money order accepted for in person orders. Most orders processed the same day. When placing your order, they will be able to give you a more accurate time frame.

Is expedited processing available?

Yes. An expedited service fee of $50 is required, in addition to the regular $10 fee. A separate check is requested for expedite fees.
