Hawaii Annual Report Filing Instructions

How to file your Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs annual report:

The simplest way to file your Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs annual report is online.

It will literally take about 5 to 10 minutes. You'll need the file number that comes on the post card. The post card that the Hawaii Secretary of State will mail out to you is sent to the mailing address on record with Hawaii. You will enter the file number. It will then prompt you to the screen to edit your information. You can change all your info on this screen if you would like, and then you electronically sign the document by typing your name. If you don't want to file online, you can print the document out at this point, sign, and send it into the the State with the $21.50 filing fee.

If you don't have internet access and need a paper report, you're probably not reading this anyway, but if you would like a paper report, you can call the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs at 808-586-2727 and request they mail you a paper report. They used to mail paper reports out, but now you just get a postcard asking you to file online.

When is the Hawaii Annual Report Due?

The Hawaii annual reports are due yearly based on the quarter you initially filed your company in. This can be confusing to some people, but here are the due dates:
  • March 31st (3-31)
  • June 30th (6-30)
  • Sept. 30th (9-30)
  • Dec. 31st (12-31)

Your filing date is determined by when you registered/incorporated your business, or qualified it to do business in Hawaii. It is due each year. So if you qualified your California corporation to do business in Hawaii on January 25th of 2008, your next report would be due March 31st, 2009 because you fell into the first quarter.

What is the cost to file the Hawaii annual report?

You can pay a $25.00 expedite fee if you'd like it done in 1-3 days. Normal processing time is not really that long though.
