How to get a Certificate of Existence or Good Standing from the Indiana Secretary of State

A certificate of good standing in the State of Indiana is called a Certificate of Existence. You can order by fax, mail, phone, in person or online but we recommend online. Online orders are processed immediately and cost $18.00. Normal processing takes up to 5 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $15.00.

Go to their website and follow the instructions provided to do a name search, view general information, select generate Certificate of Existence/Authorization. You will be able to authenticate, view and print the certificate in pdf format yourself immediately. You will want to have your credit card handy. A credit card processing fee will be required in addition to the online processing fee.

By Mail:

You will want to provide the business name, payment, specific request and a daytime phone number for any questions.

By Fax:

You will want to provide the business name, specific request and a daytime phone number for any questions on a normal fax cover sheet. They will bill you for applicable fees. A credit card processing fee may apply.

By Phone:

Called in requests are accepted and they can give you a specific timeframe for processing. You will want to have the business name and credit card handy when making your call. Credit card processing fees apply.

In Person:

Requested documents can usually be provided within 24 hours. You will want to have your payment handy.


How much does an Indiana Certificate of Existence cost?
