How to get a Certificate of Good Standing from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)

You can order a certificate of good standing by fax, mail, phone, or in person, but we recommend faxing. Normal processing takes up to 10 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $10. Expedited service is available for $2.50 more and can be returned to you by fax or mail by the next business day, plus additional time for mailing.

Called in requests are accepted and they can give you a specific timeframe for processing. You will want to have the business name and credit card handy when making your call.

By Mail:

Requests by mail will be expedited only if requested and paying the additional fee. You will want to provide the same Order Form and a daytime phone number for any questions.

By Fax:

Requests by fax will be expedited only if requested and paying the additional fee. You will want to provide the Order Form and a daytime phone number for any questions on a normal fax cover sheet. You can request they fax the certificate back to you.

In Person:

Requested documents are provided while you wait at: 2501 Woodlake Circle, Okemos, MI 48864. You will want to have your payment handy.

How much does an Michigan Certificate of Good Standing cost?

$10 for normal processing.
25% of the total cost for expedited processing by fax, phone or mail.

Is expedited processing available?

Yes. An expedited service fee of 25% of the total cost is required for faxed and mailed requests, in addition to the regular fee.

Orders totaling $100 or more require a 50% deposit; otherwise they will send you an invoice.

How long does it take to get a Certificate of Good Standing?

Expedited Counter Service: while you wait (in person only).
Expedited processing: next business day, plus additional time for mailing.
Normal processing: 5-10 business days, plus additional time for mailing.

How will the Certificate of Good Standing come back after I order from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)?

It will be mailed by regular mail unless you request that it be returned to you by fax. Return service by fax is available only for orders less than 20 pages. Return service by email, Fed Ex or UPS is not available.
