How to get a Certificate of Good Standing from the Minnesota Secretary of State

A certificate of good standing in the state of Minnesota is also called a Certificate of Status. You can order by mail, in person, or online, but we recommend online. Online processing costs $15 and is processed within 1 business day, plus additional time for mailing. Normal processing takes up to 4 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $5.

Online:
Go to their website and follow the instructions provided to search and request a certificate. Your order will be processed within one business day and returned by mail. You can provide a Fed Ex or UPS account number in the special instructions section for faster return service. You will want to have your credit card handy.

By Mail:
Requests by mail cannot be expedited. You will want to provide the order form, payment, return address information, specific request and a daytime phone number for any questions.

In Person:
Requested documents will be provided while you wait at no additional charge. Documents can usually be provided within 1 hour. Since they close at 4:00 pm, they recommend that you arrive prior to 3:00 pm.

How much does a Minnesota Certificate of Good Standing cost?

$15 online processing.
$5 for normal processing.

Is expedited processing available?

Yes. An expedited service fee of $10 is required, in addition to the regular $5 fee. However, expedited processing is available online only.
