How to resign as registered agent in Florida:

To resign your position as registered agent in Florida, you download, complete and submit the Cover Letter and Resignation of Registered Agent form to the Department of State by mail or in person, along with the filing fee.

Do you have to notify the Florida entity you’re serving as registered agent for before you resign or after?

You will need to mail a copy of the completed Resignation of Registered Agent form to the represented entity at their last known address before filing.

Is there a fee to resign as the Florida registered agent for a corporation, LLC, or other business entity?

The fee required in Florida to resign as registered agent for a corporation is $87.50 for an active corporation and $35 for a dissolved/withdrawn corporation.
To resign from an LLC in Florida, the filing fee is $85 for an active LLC and $25 for a dissolved/withdrawn LLC.
Expedited service is available the same day, if filed in person by 4:30 pm, at no additional charge.

How long will it take the state to process the Florida resignation of registered agent filing?

Normal processing is completed in approximately one week. If you walk your resignation in, you may request same-day processing while you wait.
You will be able to print a copy directly from their website. Allow at least a week for the imaged document to post.

How long do you still have to serve as the registered agent after the filing? How long will you have to legally accept service of process after you’ve resigned as agent?

The registered agent is terminated on the 31st day after the date on which the Resignation of Registered Agent form is filed.
