Can I have all my business mail sent to the registered office address?
A registered agent is a contact for the Secretary of State. When you register your business, the Secretary of State needs to know where they can send official notices. They also need to know that if you get sued in their state, you have a representative who can be served legal process on your behalf. This is the foundation of our business! We have worked hard to make our registered agent service efficient while keeping our fees low. We scan and upload state and legal documents to your online account because we know you need them immediately.
You shouldn't use our address for all your regular business mail. Some people hide their addresses and list our address on the public documents, which is ok, but you can't just send all your mail through our address then. You would still need to tell the people you're using the company for to mail items to you direct. There's a big difference between hiding your address on the public documents, which many people do and doesn't create a lot of mail for you at our address, and using our address as your mailing address. There are federal rules against this and we can't risk the stability of our company over one person blasting us with all their mail when they only hired us as their registered agent.
If you're very concerned about privacy, a great solution is to hide your address on the public documents filed with the Secretary of State or Corporations Division and then use a PO Box where you're at for your mail, or use one of our Washington or Idaho mail forwarding services. We offer scannable mail forwarding services in Washington and Idaho if you need a supplementary service for your regular business mail.
