How to get a Certificate of Existence from the South Dakota Secretary of State
A certificate of good standing in the State of South Dakota is called a Certificate of Existence. You can order by fax, mail, email, or in person, but we recommend faxing. Normal processing takes up to 2 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $20.00. Expedited service is available for $50.00 more and should take less than 1 day, plus additional time for mailing.

Requests by mail will be expedited only if paying the additional fee and specifically requesting it. You will want to provide the business name, payment, return address information, specific request and a daytime phone number for any questions.

They will call you when your order is complete to get your credit card information for payment. You can request they fax or email the certificate back to you, for an additional $5.00 charge.
