What are the options and different ways you can change your District of Columbia registered agent?
The only way to change your Washington DC registered agent is to submit form RA-3, Statement of Change of Registered Office or Registered Agent to the Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs, Corporations Division (DCRA). Form RA-1 is included in the DCRA Registered Agent Combined Form. The DCRA doesn’t accept handwritten forms. Include a duplicate if you would like a filed copy of the statement returned to you. Washington DC corporations and LLCs wishing to change the Washington DC registered agent should submit the completed form to the DCRA in person or by mail.
The DCRA accepts cash, money order, check, or Visa/MasterCard. Please make checks payable to “D.C. Treasurer.”

The filing fee to change your Washington DC registered agent is $50.
You can pay an additional $50 to have the form processed in three days.
You can have the change agent processed in one day if you pay an additional $100.

How long does it take the DCRA to process and complete the change of registered agent in District of Columbia?
The change is effective when the form is delivered to the DCRA. Mailed documents can take awhile to actually get to the DCRA office since mail is routed through Maryland for payment processing first. You can overnight documents to the DCRA, but that will not affect their actual processing time.
If you include an Expedited Service Action Form and the additional fee, you can choose to have your document filed within one day or within three days.
If you walk-in documents, the corporations division will process them while you wait.
