How to get a Certificate of Good Standing from the District of Columbia Corporations Division

A Certificate of Good Standing in the District of Columbia can be ordered by mail or in person, but we recommend mailing. Normal processing takes up to 10 days, plus additional time for mailing, and costs $30.00 or less. Expedited service is available in person only and should be the same day.

By Mail:

Provide the Order Form, payment, and a daytime phone number for any questions on your request cover letter.

In Person:

You can drop off a completed Order Form at the office between 9:30 and 4:30, Monday-Friday. In person requests will processed the same day.


How much does a District of Columbia Certificate of Good Standing cost?


$50.00 All entities except for non-profits.
$40.00 for non-profits.

Note: The fee is $1.00 for for-profit corporations incorporated before 1962 and non-profit corporations that were incorporated before 1954.


Is expedited processing available?

Yes. Expedited service is available:
One day: $100.00
Three day: $50.00

How long does it take to get a Certificate of Good Standing?

How will the Certificate of Good Standing come back after I order from the District of Columbia?
