Under Oklahoma law, all registered businesses (like corporations and LLCs) must have a registered agent. In fact, you’ll need to provide a registered agent’s name and address when you form a company. Registered agents make it easy for the state, law enforcement, and the general public to contact a business.

1. Perform an Oklahoma business name search with the Secretary of State.
2. Type in the name of the company you’re searching for.
3. The registered agent’s name and registered office street address should be listed with the company’s details.

If you want to legally notify an Oklahoma business through their registered agent, send a certified letter to the agent at their registered office address.

Service of process on a registered agent is legal proof that your business has been notified. This is true whether you do or do not actually receive the documents from your Oklahoma registered agent. Once the registered agent accepts the documents, you’ve been notified. This is a serious responsibility that we do not take lightly. This is how it works:

• A process server, county sheriff, or any third party arrives at the registered office and hands documents (service of process) to the registered agent, who signs for them.
• The process server then gives an affidavit (a receipt of service) to the court as confirmation that they served the business.
