Steps To Applying For Tax Exemption In Wyoming

Is my Wyoming non-profit corporation eligible for any state tax exemptions?

Yes. Nonprofit corporations in Wyoming are not required to pay a corporate income tax, as Wyoming doesn’t have one. Additionally, nonprofit corporations may be eligible for sales tax if they meet the requirements of the WY state government.

How does a non-profit corporation in Wyoming apply for a sales tax exemption?

If the WY nonprofit corporation has already been granted federal tax exempt status by the IRS, the nonprofit need only submit a copy of the IRS’ Letter of Determination to the Wyoming Department of Revenue to be granted a sales tax exemption.

If the 501c3 status, they can apply by submitting the following to the Wyoming Department of Revenue:

Articles of Incorporation
Mission statement
Income and expense statement (for the past three years)

There are no official forms that a Wyoming non-profit needs complete to apply for the sale tax exemption in Wyoming.
