How To Resign As A Registered Agent In Nebraska

To resign as a registered agent in Nebraska, you must submit the original and two exact copies of a Statement of Resignation of Registered Agent to the Nebraska Secretary of State, Business Services Division by mail or in-person. The Nebraska Secretary of State will then mail a copy of the registered agent’s resignation to the company’s registered office, if not discontinued, and the principal office address.

The notice of resignation may include a statement that the registered office is also discontinued. There is no official form to resign as a Nebraska registered agent. The fee for resignation of a Nebraska registered agent depends on entity type. For LLCs, the fee is $10 plus $5 per page, and there is no fee for corporations.

The Steps To Resign As A Nebraska Registered Agent:

  1. To resign, the Nebraska registered agent must deliver by mail or in-person an original and two exact copies of a Statement of Resignation of Registered Agent to the Nebraska Secretary of State, Business Services Division. Include the appropriate processing fee depending on entity type ($10 plus $5 per page for LLCs, no fee for corporations).
  2. The Nebraska Secretary of State will notify the company you had been representing by sending a copy of the processed statement of resignation to the company’s registered office, if not discontinued, and the principal office address.

The Nebraska registered agent’s resignation is effective as of the 31st day after the statement is filed with the Nebraska Secretary of State, Business Services Division.
