What are the options and different ways you can change your Michigan registered/resident agent?
You may change your Michigan resident agent when you file your annual report or statement, but it is cheap and easy to change your Michigan resident agent any time by filing the form, Certificate of Change of Registered Office and/or Change of Resident Agent, with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
How much does it cost to change your resident agent in Michigan?
The filing fee to change your Michigan resident agent is $5 If you choose expedited processing:
24 hours – $100
Same day – $200
Two hour – $500
One hour – $1000

Documents are processed by LARA in 3 to 5 business days. If you need to change your Michigan registered agent more quickly, fill out the Expedited Service Request form for each document.

Two hour review – if you submit by 3 pm, filing is completed within two hours
One hour review – if you submit by 4 pm, filing is completed within one hour
What form do you file to change your resident agent in Michigan?
The form, Certificate of Change of Registered Office and/or Change of Resident Agent is available on the LARA website or you’ll have access to the form in your online account immediately, when you sign up for Michigan resident agent service with Northwest. Use of LARA forms is optional. But you have to make sure you include the required information if you choose to draft your own documents.
If you are changing your resident agent, an authorized officer or agent of a corporation or a member or manager of an LLC must sign the form. If you are just changing the registered office, the resident agent may sign the form. The form may be filed by mail or in person. If you walk in your document you may choose to pay by VISA or MasterCard. If you mail your document, include a check or money order payable to “State of Michigan” with your documents. Include the business name and identification number on check or money order.
Submit one original. It will be returned to the registered office unless you choose a different address.
