How To Resign As A Registered Agent In Michigan
To resign as a registered agent in Michigan, submit a Resignation of Resident Agent form to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). You can file the resignation online, by mail, fax, email or in-person. There is a $5 fee for a registered agent to resign from an LLC and no fee to resign from a corporation or LP.
Before filing with the state, you must provide written notice of your resignation to the company that you had been representing. The Michigan registered agent’s resignation should be sent to specific people within the company depending on entity type.
Corporations:
Send the agent’s resignation to the president or vice president.
Limited partnerships:
Send the agent’s resignation to a general partner.
LLCs:
Send the agent’s resignation to a member or manager.
