Arizona Sales Tax Exemption

Steps To Applying For Arizona Tax Exemption

Are nonprofit organizations tax exempt in Arizona?

Not automatically. You will have to apply for exemptions; just because you are exempt from one type of tax will not mean that you are exempt from others.

How do I become federally tax exempt?

You will file for 501c3 tax exempt status with the IRS.

Is my Arizona nonprofit exempt from the Transaction Privilege tax?

Only AZ nonprofits that are qualified healthcare organizations are exempt from the Transaction Privilege tax.

Is my AZ nonprofit able to obtain Arizona Corporate Income Tax exemption?

Yes. You are automatically exempt as a 501c3 tax exempt organization, but will need to submit a copy of your IRS Letter of Determination to:

Arizona Department of Revenue
Corporate Income Tax Audit
1600 W. Monroe
Phoenix, Arizona 85007-2650
