STEPS TO APPLYING FOR TAX EXEMPTION IN OKLAHOMA

Is my Oklahoma non-profit corporation eligible for any state tax exemptions?

Yes. OK nonprofit corporations are possibly eligible for corporate state tax exemptions and for state sales tax exemptions if they meet the state government’s qualifications.

How does an OK non-profit corporation receive exemption from the state corporate tax?

The Oklahoma nonprofit corporations will automatically be granted corporate tax exemption if the entity has already been given federal tax exempt status by the IRS (typically denoted as 501c3 status).

How does a non-profit corporation receive sales tax exemption in Oklahoma?

To receive sales tax exemption in Oklahoma, a nonprofit corporation must file Form 13-16-A with the Oklahoma Tax Commission, and attach the following items to the form:

  • Articles of incorporation.
  • The bylaws of the OK nonprofit organization.
  • Some of the organization’s promotional materials (typically a brochure or similar item).
  • Notarized letter from the organization’s director or president.
