No. While many business filings can be completed on Maryland’s Department of Assessments and Taxation website, there is no way to file the resignation of a Maryland registered agent online. The agent’s resignation can be mailed or walked in. Faxed filings are not accepted.
Standard processing time for the resignation of a Maryland registered agent is 4-6 weeks. Filings can be expedited to seven business days for an additional $50. Walked-in documents receive same-day expedited service if delivered before 4:15pm and require the $50 expedite fee. Walked-in filings can be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). There is a 3% processing fee for credit card payments. Mailed-in documents can be expedited as well but require that you write “EXPEDITED SERVICE REQUESTED” in bold on both a cover letter and the envelope and also include the $50 fee. Make checks payable to “State Department of Assessments and Taxation”.
