Late Fees: If you file the annual report late, you have about 90 days before the state revokes business privileges. 


To complete your Kansas annual report, you have two filing options: do it yourself or hire us.

  1. Complete the Filing Yourself
    As long as your company is in good standing and hasn’t forfeited its ability to do business in Kansas (if not, you must file by paper), it’s way better to file online. Visit the Kansas Secretary of State’s website. Go to the state’s Electronic Annual Report Filing System. Perform a business search for your company in the state database. Once you find your company, select it from the results. Confirm or update the following information where appropriate:

    • Company Name
    • Mailing Address
    • EIN (Tax ID Number)
    • Tax Year Closing Date
    • Home State
    • Corporations must list the following information: names/addresses of directors and officers, number of shares issued, business purpose, whether the corporation owns more that 50% of another business (if so, list businesses), whether corporation owns or leases suitable farming land (if so, you have to list a lot of info about the farming land)
    • Domestic LLCs must list names of members who own more than 5% of company
    • Signature of authorized person

What is the cost to file the Kansas annual report?

KS Corporations and PCs-domestic and foreign: $55 by mail, $50 online.
KS LLC and PLLCs-domestic and foreign: $55 by mail, $50 online.
KC LLPs and LPs-domestic and foreign: $55 by mail, $50 online.
KS Nonprofits-domestic and foreign: $40.
KS Charity: $35.

How to file your Kansas annual report with the Secretary of State:

You can file your Kansas annual report electronically on the Secretary of State’s website. We have furnished a link below where you search for your business name or ID number. This method is simple and immediate, not to mention cheaper.

If you prefer to mail in a paper form, annual reports forms are available for downloading on the Secretary of State’s website, or at our link here. Go to the annual report page and click on paper forms. Complete the form and mail it to the Secretary of State with a check or money order.

Kansas charities have a separate Registration Statement for Solicitations with the Secretary of State that must be completed annually.

When is the Kansas Annual Report Due?

KS LLCs and Partnerships:Reports are due by the 15th day of the fourth month after your fiscal year end. For most companies, this is April 15th each year.

KS Nonprofits:Reports are due by the 15th day of the sixth month after your fiscal year end. So for nonprofits, the due date is typically June 15th.

KS Charities:Renew their registration by the last day of the sixth month following the fiscal year end. So the renewal is usually due by the end of June.

Does Kansas have initial report requirements?

No. When you start a business in Kansas, you don’t need to file an initial report.

Late fees?

None, but you will have 90 days from the report due date to submit the annual report or your business registration or qualification will be forfeited.

How do I get notified?

Kansas Secretary of State does not send out annual report notices. When you sign up with Northwest as your Kansas registered agent, we will track your due date and send out email reminders to file your annual report with the Kansas Secretary of State.
